How often does the Den meet?
- Each Den will have meetings at different times and intervals during the school year, usually twice per month for 1-2 hours. Every effort is made by Den Leaders to accommodate the schedules of busy families.
- Dens will also have activities and "field trips" appropriate to the age of the Den at different times of year.
How often does the Pack meet?
- The Pack meets at 6:30PM on the third Friday of each month for Pack Night and generally lasts 1 hour.
- Pack Night does not occur over the summer months (June, July and August). Some Pack Nights are moved either one week before or after to accommodate for holidays or other important events.
- The Pack also has various scheduled monthly events throughout the year appropriate to all Cub Scout ages.
Do I have to go to every meeting and event?
- Scouts are not required to attend every meeting or event. However, attendance leads to a better overall program for all the scouts. If there are time concerns, use the following guide to prioritize what to attend:

How much does Cub Scouts cost? *Pack Dues for the 2020-2021 scouting will be changing. This will be updated soon.
- The total Pack dues is TBD per calendar year. This dues includes the following:
- Official registration fee.
- Annual subscription to Boy's Life magazine.
- All awards and rank advancements including; badges, patches, pins and belt loops.
- Official Cub Scout rank specific handbook.
- Rank specific neckerchief and slide.
- Pinewood Derby Car.
- Numerous free Pack events and activities throughout the year.
- Access to over 50 Pack, District and Council Cub Scout events and activities throughout the year.
- Individual Den's may have a small dues to cover Den snacks, projects, crafts and field trips.
- Pack dues can be paid in two installments. TBD
- The first installment is due when the scout joins or in the fall, if continuing from the prior year.
- The second installment is due after primary fundraising is complete. (usually in March)
- New Cub Scouts require a uniform.
- There are many other optional events and activities offered throughout the year that have varying costs.
Fundraising? What is all that about?
- Fundraising is encouraged annually to reduce, and in many cases offset, the costs of Cub Scouting to families, including; dues, activity and event fee's, uniforms and equipment.
- The Pack has two primary fundraising opportunities each fall. These include selling popcorn and selling Christmas Wreaths.
- Pack 297 is unique from many other Packs in terms of fundraising. Most of the proceeds ( 25% of total sales! ) earned by individual scouts are allocated directly to their individual "Scout Account".
- Many scouts in the Pack earn enough through fundraising to pay for their entire scouting experience.
What is a 'Scout Account'?
- "Scout Accounts" are individual accounts established for each Cub Scout that engages in fundraising opportunities.
- The accounts are mainlined by the Pack and balances can be monitored through the TroopTrack website.
- Proceeds from fundraising are allocated directly to their individual account.
- Funds in your scout's Scout Account can be used to pay for a variety of things like; Pack Dues, activity and event fees, uniforms and scouting related equipment.
- When a Cub Scout moves on to Scouts BSA, the balance of their individual Scout Account moves with them.
